Compound calculator
What a fixed rate compounds to over a number of periods, with optional contributions. This is arithmetic about a rate — not a projection of what an account will do.
A negative rate works too, and is worth trying — see the asymmetry below.
What this actually assumes
each period: balance = balance × (1 + rate) + contribution
It assumes the same rate every single period. No trading account does that. Real results vary period to period, include losing ones, and arrive in an order that matters — a drawdown early leaves less capital to compound afterwards, so the same set of returns in a different sequence ends somewhere else entirely.
That is why this page does not present the output as a forecast, and why you should be sceptical of any service that shows you a compounding curve as though it were a plan.
The asymmetry worth internalising
Losses and gains are not mirror images, because each one is calculated on a different balance:
This is the real argument for position sizing. Protecting the balance from a deep drawdown does more for a long-run result than catching any single large winner — and you can see it by entering a negative rate above.
Real numbers instead of assumed ones
Live Market AI publishes tracked signals and follows every one to its result — wins and losses both shown, with entry, stop and targets recorded at the time. No assumed rate, no curve.
